5-Minute Subtle Energy Yoga Practice to Soothe Aches & Pains

Updated: May 27

When you're unwell—laid out in bed with the flu, aching, foggy, and low on energy—it’s easy to feel disconnected and stuck. Even the smallest movements can feel like a stretch, and the idea of “doing yoga” might be the furthest thing from your mind.

But during a recent bout of illness, I was reminded how powerful subtle energy and simple movement can be in helping the body shift discomfort, ease inflammation, and gently reconnect with itself.

This short video practice was born from that experience. It’s what I did when I felt too unwell to do much of anything—but needed to support my body and energy field through rest and intentional movement.

In this video, you’ll find a gentle yoga and energy healing sequence that:

  • Helps ground and repolarize your system

  • Uses breath, awareness, and subtle visualization to move stagnant energy

  • Incorporates nurturing movements like tabletop to child’s pose

  • Can be done partially from a chair or the floor

  • Supports immune response and eases energetic congestion

Whether you're recovering from illness, managing low energy, or simply need a gentle reset, this practice can help create space, relieve discomfort, and support healing.

🧘‍♀️ Watch the video to learn the practice:

Full transparency: While the video is titled as a 5-minute practice, it runs a little longer because I take time to explain the process and its benefits. The guided movement begins at 3:46, and once you're familiar with it, you can easily repeat the practice on your own in just a few minutes—no video needed.

Let the body soften. Let the energy flow. Healing doesn’t always need to be hard. Sometimes, it’s as subtle as a breath, a shift, or a gentle release.

Why This Works

This practice combines three powerful healing principles:

  1. Breath awareness to anchor the mind and body

  2. Energy visualization to direct and release subtle energy

  3. Gentle movement to create flow and relieve stagnation

When we’re sick, our field contracts. Pain signals that energy is stuck. But even the subtlest movements can open space and allow healing to begin.

Final Thoughts

This 5-minute practice helped me significantly during my recent bout with the flu. While it didn’t “cure” my illness, it shifted the pain and allowed me to rest more peacefully. That alone made a big difference in my recovery.

If you try this practice, I’d love to hear how it felt for you. Did anything shift? Did you feel lighter or more grounded? Or did something feel strange or unclear? I welcome your feedback and would be happy to suggest alternatives or deeper practices.
